New Speed Indicator on Kensington Parkway in Downtown

New Speed Indicator on Kensington Parkway in Downtown Wilson Faucette - Kensington, MD - 5.21.2021 - 12:27 New Speed Indicator on Kensington Parkway Photo: Wilson Faucette New Speed Indicator There is a new smart speed sign in the area. This one is on Kensington Parkway in the downtown historic district right by Howard Avenue Park. This speed limit sign is only on one side of the street, on the side with all the shops. It appears that the speed limit is 25 or 30 miles per hour. Unlike other smart speed signs in the area, such as the one on Montrose Road, this sign displays a smiley face when you are not speeding. It tells you to slow down when you are speeding. Make sure not to speed! The Town of Kensington Government, and Montgomery Planning do not appear to have any information on the speed limit sign.  What do you think about the speed limit sign? How do you like the smiley face? Let us know in the comments below.

The Impact of A Dirt Hill

The Impact of A Dirt Hill Garrett Park Estates, MD - Wilson Faucette - 5.1.2021 - 7:27 Photo: Wilson Faucette A Dirt Hill has A Large Impact on The Environment A hill, such as the one at the construction site above releases dirt into the environment, and is prone to erosion. According to the World Meteorological Organization (WMO), airborne dust could pose significant health and environmental consequences. If the dust particles are small enough to be inhaled(less than 10  μm ), they could be trapped in the nose and mouth and they could lead to respiratory disorders such as asthma. Dust particles that are too large to be inhaled could damage external organs such as your eyes.  The WMO also talks about how the dust can cover roads if it is in large enough quantities. Although the WMO is mostly talking about large Saharan Dust Storms, you still want to try to avoid inhaling dirt whenever possible. Dirt hills are especially prone to erosion because there are no plants or even grass roots
