MCPS To Require Masks in The Fall The MCPS Board of Education decided that everyone in MCPS facilities will be required to wear an appropriate face covering this fall, regardless of vaccination status. The new rankings for next year have Garrett Park ranked first in Division J. This will have been Garrett Park's 3rd season competing in Division J. However, a difference between this year and past years is that Garrett Park is ranked first.  Week 4b Delayed Significantly Wilson Faucette- Garrett Park Pool- 7/7/21 - 4:30 PM Teams waiting to enter pool Photo: Wilson Faucette The week 4b meet against Cedarbrook is being significantly delayed due to thunder. The meet currently is not starting until 5:00. Warm-ups may be canceled. We will supply more updates as they come.  Updated: The pool opened at around 5:00, a short warm ups took place, and then the entire meet took place. During the butterfly, the starting machine fell off of the stand and broke. During the rest of the meet, they started using a microphone and hand.

 GPST News: GP Beats Potomac Glen Wilson Faucette - Garrett Park Estates, MD - 6.22.2021 - 17:33 Photo: garrettparkladybugs.org Garrett Park Beats Potomac Glen The Garrett Park Swim Team(GPST) defeated Potomac Glen on Saturday in their first MCSL Dual Meet(Commonly referred to as an "A" Meet) of the 2021 season. The swim team was unable to have their season last year due to the COVID pandemic. However, along with the sudden reopening in the county, MCSL changed their plans for this season at the last minute . The absence of restrictions allowed MCSL and the swim team to host an almost entirely normal swim season. The meet against Potomac Glen Swim Team, which was swum at the Garrett Park Pool went rather smoothly. The Ladybugs(Garrett Park) beat the Gators(Potomac Glen) 423.5 to 338.5.  GPST News: Time Trials Complete (Not From This Time Trials) Photo: Garrett Park Swim Team What is Time Trials? Every year, Garrett Park Swim Team(GPST) has a time trials meet. This meet is not swum against any other team, and is rather a fairly laid back way for swimmers to get times in a meet-like environment. It gives swimmers an extra chance to try to make an A-Meet, or to see where they are. Time Trials is held at the beginning of the season. First Meet of 2021, A Success  This is not only the swim team's first meet of the year. This is Coach Drew Fisher's first meet with the team. His first season with the team was last year, but no meets were held last year. So, Coach Drew's first meet with Garrett Park, and the team's first meet in almost 2 years was a success. There were no major problems with the meet, and results are already up on Swimtopia.  Breaking: MCSL Not Under COVID-19 Protocols Wilson Faucette - Garrett Park Estates, MD - 5.25.2021 - 7:56 Despite being no COVID-19 Protocols, this probably won't take place this year Photo: Garrettparkladybugs.org Notice on MCSL.org MCSL has released a notice on their website  from the MCSL Board. The statement goes over that teams do not have to follow COVID Protocols anymore, that A meets will be run regularly this year, and recommending mask wearing and social distancing. This comes after Montgomery County revealed that on May 28, there will be a full reopening, and county residents will now be subject to any state guidance.  No More COVID-19 Protocols MCSL says that they have removed their COVID-19 protocol for this swim season in cooperation with county officials.  Breaking: GP Pool No Longer Requires Reservations, Opening Day Soon Wilson Faucette - Garrett Park Estates, MD - 5.22.2021 - 13:12 Garrett Park Pool Photo: Garrettparkpool.org No More Reservations The Garrett Park Pool sent out an email to subscribers on Friday Afternoon. In their email, they ask to make sure that members have paid their dues. They also give some news that radically changes how the pool will operate this summer. There will no longer be reservations, because they currently have a 75% capacity limit, and the county is set to remove all restrictions in a week or so. They say that that applies to both the family and lap pool. They also say that due to the lifting of capacity restriction, that guests will most likely be allowed. Masking Some of the Garrett Park Pool staff are not fully vaccinated yet, and therefore masks will be required at check-in. However, the pool cites that masks are no longer required outside.  MCSL Updated Division Assignments Released, Season Restrictions Up In The Air Wilson Faucette - Garrett Park Estates, MD - 5.19.2021 - 17:05 Photo: garrettparkladybugs.org Updated Division Assignments for the 2021 Season MCSL, or the Montgomery County Swim League is the summer swim league in Montgomery County. It is the league that Garrett Park participates in. After last year(2020)'s season was cancelled due to the coronavirus, MCSL has already committed to having a competitive swim season. However, due to the waiver that they obtained from the county, some pools were not able to participate in this season. Therefore, MCSL had to update the division assignments that were assigned at the end of the 2019 season. Garrett Park is still ranked 6/6 in division J. What's different? Most teams were able to continue in the 2021 season. In fact divisions A-J were not affected by any teams that could not participate.
