This was decided to go into effect on Saturday the 7th at 12:01 AM. This means that this new board of health regulation is now in effect and you now must wear a mask indoors in public spaces in Montgomery County.  Decision Based On Substantial Spread of COVID-19 In County According to Dr. Gayles Dr. Travis Gayles is the County Health Officer. MCPS To Require Masks in The Fall The MCPS Board of Education decided that everyone in MCPS facilities will be required to wear an appropriate face covering this fall, regardless of vaccination status. In their July 28 Community Update , MCPS said that, " All MCPS students, staff and visitors will be required to wear face coverings in school buildings this fall, regardless of vaccination status." The board cites recommendations by the CDC and American Academy of Pediatrics to explain their decision.
