 New Speed Indicator on Kensington Parkway in Downtown Wilson Faucette - Kensington, MD - 5.21.2021 - 12:27 New Speed Indicator on Kensington Parkway Photo: Wilson Faucette New Speed Indicator There is a new smart speed sign in the area. This one is on Kensington Parkway in the downtown historic district right by Howard Avenue Park. This speed limit sign is only on one side of the street, on the side with all the shops. It appears that the speed limit is 25 or 30 miles per hour. Unlike other smart speed signs in the area, such as the one on Montrose Road, this sign displays a smiley face when you are not speeding. It tells you to slow down when you are speeding. Make sure not to speed! The Town of Kensington Government, and Montgomery Planning do not appear to have any information on the speed limit sign.  What do you think about the speed limit sign?  The Pike District Connector Trail Wilson Faucette - Garrett Park Estates, MD - 5.12.2021 - 13:50 The Pike District Connector Trail and it's hubs Photo: montgomeryplanning.org What is the Pike District Connector Trail? The Pike District Connector Trail is going to be a 1 mile, mixed use trail that goes from the Bethesda Trolley Trail on Edson lane, to the Montrose Parkway Trail. According to Montgomery Planning , this is a temporary path for this summer. It is also meant to help advance the county's vision zero policies. Vision zero's goal is to prevent fatal traffic incidents. The trails seems that it will most likely use the existing bike lanes and the ones that are being installed on Executive Boulevard and Woodglen Dr. The Better Block Foundation  is working with the county to advance the Pike District by adding art and street furniture to the four hubs.
