Masks Now Required Indoors In Montgomery County

Masks are now required indoors in Montgomery County for everybody, regardless of vaccination status. The  county council acting as the board of health unanimously voted to reinstate this masking mandate on August 5th. The new mandate went into effect on August 7th when Montgomery County had reached the CDC's definition of an area of substantial spread. See This Article

Rising COVID Cases Before Start of School Year

Coronavirus Cases have rapidly risen in Montgomery County over the past few weeks. The 7 day average per 100,000 residents is at 68.1 which is up from 3.81 in late June 2021. This comes as the Delta variant is spreading across the US, the CDC has issued updated guidance on masking, and school is about to start. According to MCPS press releases, there were two cases of COVID at Walter Johnson HS reported between July 30 and 31. Bethesda Beat has also reported that MCPS may require staff to get vaccinated.

MCSL Season Over

MCSL concluded their season this year with their Individual All Star Meet. 3 Garrett Park Swimmers participated in the meet. MCSL was unable to host their All Star Relay Meet this year due to Coronavirus.

Stillwater and Orleans Repaved

Stillwater Ave. near Cushing and Orleans, and Orleans Way appear to have been repaved. This came after work had been done on the road there in recent months.

Strathmore's Patio Stage Garrett Park Estates, MD - Wilson Faucette - 5.4.2021 - 14:01 A rendering of what the patio will look like Photo: Strathmore.org The Music Center is Back(Outside) Strathmore Music Center & Mansion is a 16 acre campus in between Tuckerman Ln, Rockville Pike, and Strathmore. It borders the Academy of Holy Cross. On the Strathmore website , they have announced that they are bringing back live music with a new open air venue. They say that the pavilion will be on the center's Trawick Terrace. The Trawick Terrace is located at the bottom of the concrete steps, looking out onto the property of Holy Cross.
